KCSi-T.V. News
Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) -- A few weeks ago when the call went out to the Jamestown Community for volunteers to fill sandbags to contain the rising James River through town, among the first volunteers were inmates at the James River Correctional Center.
On Tuesday's (Apr 28th) Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable Channel 2, Warden Don Redman said, the inmates were eager to show their support the first day, as 70-imates, in 5 hours, filled 9,000 sandbags. They averaged filling 10,000 to 12,000 sandbags per day, and over a 9 day stretch they filled between 60,000 and 80,000 sandbags. Redman adds, 5 medium security inmates fulfilled Community Placement requirements by helping to lay sandbags at various leveee sites in Jamestown, accompanied by JRCC staff. He says the Jamestown River Correctional staff was involved in the inmates efforts to support the community.
