LaMoure County Approved For Dam Repairs
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Spring rains caused extensive damage to
the spillways of rural dams in two North Dakota counties, and now
officials will get state help in paying for repairs.
The state Water Commission on Wednesday approved two requests
for almost $500,000 in aid.
Cass County officials are getting almost $115,000 to remedy soil
erosion damage to the Absaraka Dam's emergency spillway. The job
will cost close to $1 million.
LaMoure County will get about $373,000 to repair the Cottonwood
Creek emergency spillway at Lake LaMoure. The 500-acre lake has a
swimming area, beach, playground and camping facilities. The total
repair bill will be about $2.5 million.
State engineer Todd Sando says the spillways of both dams will
be lined with concrete blocks.
