Cost Of Fixing Clausen Springs Dam, Doubles
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - Officials say the cost of repairing
Clausen Springs Dam south of Valley City is double that of earlier
estimates.
A $3 million renovation had been slated for the earthen Clausen
Springs Dam near Kathryn.
Engineers told the Barnes County Water Resource District on
Wednesday that repairing the dam will cost closer to $6 million due
to poor soil conditions.
Moore Engineering says the concrete structural spillway the
company envisioned would require more concrete than expected,
causing the sharp rise in cost.
