Slippery Roads - Poor Visibility
3 Trucks Off Business Loop East Sat Afternoon
KCSI TV News Reporter Roy Sheppard KCSI TV (Jamestown, ND) - Sat Feb 13 - Business Loop East was extremely busy Saturday. At 2:30am fire destroyed the S&R Truck Plaza Wash/Repair building.
Snow, poor visibility, & slippery road conditions led to several mishaps in the afternoon.
#1 - The driver of a semi pulling an Army National Guard Close Combat Tactical Training Simulator trailer, reported he was westbound from Fargo, and visibility & slippery roads led to his stopping in Jamestown for the night. The snow covered the east edge of the far east approach to the Truck parking area, and as he turned right, his right wheels went off the shoulder and he became stuck. At the time of the picture, he had been waiting for over an hour for the tow truck to arrive.
#2 - A Daggett semi (no trailer) was exiting the middle exit of the truck stop, making a left hand turn. The semi slide across Business Loop East into the the south ditch and was waiting for a tow.
#3 - An AB Foods truck/trailer was exiting the far west exit of the truck plaza, making a left hand turn onto Business Loop East, and the Blinsky semi slide into the south ditch, blocking through traffic on Business Loop East for several hours, causing sight seers of the building destroyed by fire to use the frontage road.
