KCSi-T.V. News
BISMARCK, N.D. (KCSi-T.V. News) -— The North Dakota National Guard will spend three days
training for potential flood response. This comprehensive training exercise
focuses on actions required by the Guard in the event the governor orders
them to state activity duty in support of civil authorities.
The exercise is scheduled from Feb. 5 – 7, and will be conducted in the N.D.
National Guard’s Joint Operations Center (JOC) located at the National
Guard’s headquarters at Fraine Barracks, Bismarck.
The intent of the exercise is to validate current operational, logistical and
administrative procedures and to ensure that National Guard resources can be
properly allocated to accomplish all assigned missions.
As the first military responder, the North Dakota National Guard regularly
conducts exercises to enhance and maintain emergency preparedness for state
emergencies. In 2009, the North Dakota National Guard spent nearly 100 days
on state active duty assisting state and local authorities with flood
response.
