Snow Plan for the City of Jamestown

Snowfall
Generally more than 2 inches…plowing on Emergency Snow Routes/drifted locations
Generally more than 3 inches…plowing and removal on “Downtown” streets
Generally more than 4 inches…full plowing and removal plan
Generally more than 8 inches
and, or extreme wind, and, or
multiple (accumulated) snow
events …full plowing and removal under a “Snow Emergency”
Declaration
Full Plowing and Removal Plan…will be initiated at the discretion of the City Street Foreman, and or City Engineer. Under the “Full Plowing and Removal Plan,” and lesser snow events, plowing a removal shall be accomplished from curb to curb
1) Priority Locations
A. Main Fire Hall
B. Snow Emergency Routes (as designated on map and by signs on ROW)
C. Downtown and Business Routes
D. City Hall parking lot
E. Streets adjacent to Middle School
2) Secondary Locations
A. Residential areas
B. Alleys-for garbage collection (by Sanitation Department)
C. Courthouse-snow collection and removal
D. Streets adjacent to other schools
E. Civic Center parking lot
F. City owned parking lots
Snow Emergency Plan
The decision to declare a “Snow Emergency” to be in effect shall be at the discretion of the City Administrator in communication with the City Street Foreman and, or, City Engineer. The City Administrator may also issue a “Snow Emergency Parking Ban” on all designated “Snow Emergency Routes” as necessary.
Under “Emergency Snow Plan” the landfill loader will be brought into to town to assist with emergency use for police, fire, and ambulance activity. All efforts will be made to keep the Emergency Snow Routes clear, from curb to curb. In all other areas, including the downtown and residential areas, every attempt will be made to keep streets passable for emergency vehicle use.
