DIKE REMOVAL
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers received bids on Dike Removal and additional Debris Removal within the City of Jamestown Thursday July 2nd. Although we do not have a firm schedule yet, the work to remove dikes should begin on Monday, July 6th, 2009.
With the Stutsman County Fair beginning on the 8th, we anticipate that the Contractor will begin removals in the East Business Loop area starting at the Interstate ramps and proceed to the north until the Fair ends. On or about the 13th, we believe that the dike removal effort for that week will shift to begin removal from City streets near Nickeus Park, along 1st Avenue, and then proceed to remove dikes in the street areas to the south through the Klaus Park area.
During the 30 days of this contract, the City will try to post PSA’s on a daily basis, beginning on the 6th, to keep the public aware of where the contractor will be working. In about three weeks, the City will let a contract to final grade, seed and fertilize the disturbed areas caused by dike construction and removal.
We have arranged for “private” sandbag dike materials to be removed if placed on the right-of-way when the contractor is working in your area, but at this time, DO NOT REMOVE ANY DIKE MATERIALS NOR PLACE ANY DIKE OR LEVEE MATERIALS ON THE RIGHT-OF-WAY UNTIL THE CONTRACTOR IS SCHEDULED TO BE IN YOUR AREA!
