"Jamestown Medical Center" Being Explored
South of I-94
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - Officials of Jamestown Hospital say the hospital no longer fits modern medical needs.
They plan to build a new hospital that would open in early 2011 near Interstate 94, at a cost of up to 40 million dollars.
Cindy Gohner is the vice president of clinical services. She says Jamestown Hospital was built in 1927 and was designed for in-patient care. But she says that now, 70 percent of the hospital's services involve outpatient care.
Jamestown officials are negotiating with the parent organizations of Medcenter One, MeritCare and Innovis Clinic to relocate clinics next to the hospital. They hope the new Jamestown Medical Center can open in 2011.
The hospital board has an option on land on the south side of Interstate 94.
