Jamestown, ND (KCSi-TV News) -- Many Well-wishers attended Wednesday
afternoon’s Open House/Retirement gathering at Jamestown City Fire Hall, for Bert Gray. (more story below video)

The City Fire Chief retires June 30th, after serving the community for 39 and a half years, joining the fire department in 1969.
A slide presentation with highlights was shown, as part of the event “Jamestown Fire Chief Bert Gray-- 39 Years of Service -- Jamestown Fire Department.
Incoming City Fire Chief Jim Reuther opened the slide presentation, saying the photos told Bert’s story, and what he has done for the Fire Department, being a friend, and his contributions to the Jamestown community.
Chief Gray has been fighting fires for 42 and a half years, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1961, and then three years in the Army, followed by two years as a fire safety inspector at North and South Dakota and Wyoming missile sites.
Bert plans to spend his “golden years,” motorcycling , and playing in his band,
“Smokehouse.” He adds, what he’ll miss the most about the Jamestown City Fire
Department, “is the people.”
The City Council appointed Fire Fighter Jim Reuther as City Fire Chief, effective July 1st this year.
