The JSDC notes, that Champ Industries USA, Inc. is a sheet metal component part fabrication facility that has operated successfully in Jamestown, since November 2005. They have maximized their potential at their first location here and are attempting to maintain production at over 100% capacity.
The Glenmac building on 2nd Avenue, Southwest, has recently become available and presents excellent timing and opportunity for the company to improve upon the growth and success that it been fortunate enough to achieve thus far.
Lise Baker, Champ Industries, General Manager and COO, told the gathering, "The ownership and management of Champ Industries USA Inc. recognizes the significant support and generosity offered by the JSDC in the initial start-up of our Jamestown operation. If not for the Board and ultimately, the taxpayers of the county, we would not be able to
celebrate our success thus far."
Ms. Baker also related, "At the beginning of production in early 2006 the company began with approximately 7 full-time staff on new work that was transferred from Champ Industries in Winnipeg. Currently we employ 20 full-time individuals over a span of 3 shifts that operate 7 days per week. In a period of two years our employment numbers have increased by approximately 250%."
The current expansion has been made possible with assistance from the State of ND through the South Central Dakota Regional Council; other partners include Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation, Small Business Development Council, Bank of North Dakota and Unison Bank.
Governor Hoeven said the cooperative efforts of state, and local political sub-division and economic development entities like the Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation, along with Bridges family, led to Jamestown becoming Champ Industries United States
manufacturing location.
JSDC C.E.O. Connie Ova read a letter from Mayor Clarice Liechty, who was unable to attend welcoming Champ Industries to Jamestown, and thanked the family owned business for choosing Jamestown has their U. S. location.
During the ceremonies, the Jamestown Champ Industries employees were recognized.
