NWA Lowering Some Jmst Air Fares
says Sen. Dorgan
KCSI TV Net News (WASHINGTON, D.C.) --- U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) announced Wednesday that Northwest Airlines has agreed to lower some airfares to and from Jamestown, North Dakota. The change will take effect immediately.
After Jamestown Airport and city officials contacted Northwest, the company agreed to take a look at its airfares to see if adjustments could be made. Senator Dorgan, who expressed concern about higher-priced airfares in smaller cities at a recent Commerce Committee hearing, also contacted the airline to encourage them to consider Jamestown’s request.
“This month, Jamestown received new nonstop service to Minneapolis/St. Paul,” Dorgan said. “It is important that they also have ticket prices that are comparable to other cities.”
Northwest confirmed today that fares for many Jamestown flights will be adjusted downward.
“This airfare adjustment is good news for Jamestown-area passengers,” Dorgan said. “Ticket pricing is an issue that is critical to rural communities. The mayor and officials at Jamestown Airport deserve credit for staying on top of this issue, and we appreciate Northwest’s willingness to review these airfares.”
