Congressaional Farm Bill Vote Could Come This Week
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - The fate of the federal farm bill could rest in the hands of House and Senate members this week.
Congress is scheduled to vote on the 350 billion dollar package.
Negotiators reached the compromise deal last week but President Bush has been quoted as saying the bill is "bloated."
Congressman Earl Pomeroy says it's important for lawmakers to send a strong signal to the White House.
Pomeroy says the president has indicated he won't sign the bill but it's unclear whether that means a veto or if he will allow it to go into effect without a signature.
