CITY-WIDE RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE CLEAN-UP
MAY 19-24, 2008

City Crews Will Be Doing Curbside Pickup Of Your Discarded Items at No Charge.
For Occupied Residential Dwellings Only (Commercial, Educational, and Religious Properties NOT Included)

1. Times:
Street Department will start picking material curbside at 9 a.m. each day and the Sanitation (Collection) Department will start as soon as the normal garbage routes can be completed but no later than 3 p.m. each day. Crews will work until that section of city is completed for the specified day. NOTE: THIS IS FOR JAMESTOWN RESIDENTIAL ITEMS ONLY! COMMERCIAL, EDUCATIONAL & RELIGIOUS PROPERTIES NOT INCLUDED

2. Where to place material:
Material must be placed on the roadway as close to the curb as possible. This will aid in
picking up the materials.
UNLESS PLAINLY MARKED, CONTAINERS WILL BE DISPOSED OF WITH ITS
CONTENTS.

3. When to place materials out for pickup:
MONDAY, May 19, 2008: Southeast section of the city, materials must be placed out for pickup by 7 a.m.
TUESDAY, May 20, 2008: Southwest section of the city, materials must be placed out for pickup by 7 a.m.
WEDNESDAY, May 21, 2008: Northwest section of the city, materials must be placed out for pickup by 7 a.m.
THURSDAY, May 22, 2008: Northeast section of the city, materials must be placed out for pickup by 7 a.m.

THERE WILL BE NO GOING BACK TO PICK UP MATERIALS PLACED OUT AFTER THE CREWS HAVE ONCE BEEN TO A SCHEDULED SECTION OF THE CITY.

4. What kind of materials will be picked up?
BRANCHES - Must be less than 4 feet in length, less than 2" in diameter, and must be tied in bundles not weighing more than 50 pounds.
WOOD, LUMBER, FURNITURE, TOYS, CARPETING, WALL BOARD, TILE, TUBS, SINKS, MATTRESSES, DOORS, WINDOWS, GUTTERS, ETC. - place in a neat pile separate from all other materials.
TIRES WILL NOT BE PICKED UP
But city residents can bring their passenger or light truck tires to the city baling facility
for a fee of $2.50 per tire.

5. What materials will NOT be picked up?
STOVES, DISHWASHERS, WASHERS AND DRYERS. These items can be taken to West End Hide & Fur or Gerdau Ameristeel (formerly Porter Brothers). There will be a charge.

REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS, AIR CONDITIONERS, DEHUMIDIFIERS, WATER HEATERS AND OTHER ITEMS THAT USE FREON - these items will have to be taken to West End Hide & Fur or to Gerdau Ameristeel (formerly Porter Brothers) for disposal. There will be a charge.

TELEVISIONS, STEREOS, COMPUTERS and MICROWAVES - May be brought to the baler at no charge.
OIL - Take to baler collection tank or collection tanks at service stations.

ANTIFREEZE - May be poured in your home SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM or taken to the Auto Clinic (450 - 1st Street West) for recycling.

BATTERIES - Automotive or motorcycle (all 6 and 12 volt lead acid) batteries must be taken to West End Hide & Fur or to Gerdau Ameristeel (formerly Porter Brothers).

AUTOS, BOATS, BUILDINGS - Take autos to West End Hide & Fur or to Gerdau Ameristeel (formerly Porter Brothers). Boats, buildings, driveways, sidewalks - take to baler inert area at your OWN expense.

NORMAL HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE (paper, cardboard, food waste, etc.) - Place out on your regular pickup day with normal garbage.

PAINT, SOLVENTS, THINNERS, PRIMERS, VARNISHES, STAINS - should be in the original can with all hazardous labels and use labels readable.

NEED SOME PAINT, etc. - stop in and look through the REUSE area. If you find something you can use. fill out a simple form and take the material home at NO CHARGE.

THE CITY BALER WILL BE OPEN 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. DURING CLEAN-UP WEEK AND FROM 8 A.M. TO 12 NOON ON SATURDAY, MAY 24™
Senior Citizens and Handicapped Persons Needing Help With These Items, May Call
The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce at 252-4830 During Office Hours And
Students From Jamestown High School Will Accommodate You

THE RECYCLING CENTER AT THE CORNER OF 1ST ST AND 3RD AVE SW WILL BE OPEN EVERY AFTERNOON UNTIL 6 P.M. DURING CITY-WIDE CLEANUP WEEK AND SATURDAY 10 A.M. UNTIL 12 NOON FOR YOUR RECYCLABLE ITEMS. The Recycling Center accepts corrugated cardboard, newspapers and their contents, white office paper, magazines, junk mail, tin, three colors of glass, number 1 and 2 plastic and pays cash for aluminum cans.

The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce/City Beautification Committee Encourages Groups and Individuals To Help Clean Up Public Areas In Town
You may pick up trash bags at the Chamber Office at 120 - 2nd St. S.E.
Monday thru Friday, May 19 to 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Organize your group and do your part in cleaning up our town.
