City Council, Amends, Approves JSDC Draft

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) -- The Jamestown City Council met in Regular
Session Monday evening at City Hall.
On the Consent Agenda.....
Mayor Liechty requested the JSDC draft item be discussed separately.
Following the Mayor’s suggestion to amend the draft, agreement between the City,
County and JSDC, dealing with policy... approval of the draft agreement between the
City of Jamestown, Stutsman County and the Jamestown/Stutsman Development
Corporation, as intially amended by the Finance & Legal Committee, April 22nd, 2008
and Monday’s amendment was discussed. The vote was, 3-2 to approve the amended
draft agreement. Council members Heinrich, and Schulz, opposed.
Councilman Schulz said the city’s action was a “heavy-handed,” approach adding the he
feels the JSDC has served well, and doesn’t feel the city should “dictate,” policy.
Councilman Heinrich also objected to leaving the JSDC out of policy and proceedures
decision-making.
Council members Parisien, and Grabinger spoke in favor of the city taking responsibility,
of establishing policies and proceedures.
