Survey Shows 70-Percent Support Pipeline
In North Dakota
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - A scientific poll by Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, indicates that 66 percent of South Dakotans and 70 percent of North Dakotans support construction of the proposed TransCanada Keystone Pipeline.
The pipeline would traverse both states as it delivers crude oil from Canada to U.S. markets.
The poll found even more support for construction of new oil refineries. Sixty-nine percent of South Dakotans and 84 percent of North Dakotans support proposed oil refineries in their respective states.
The survey of 527 South Dakotans and North Dakotans had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 points.
